The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow, 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
