The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Read! In the name of your Lord, who created: 1 created man from a clot of congealed blood. 2 Read, and your Lord only is the Most Beneficent, 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 Hath taught man that which he knew not. 5 And yet, but yet man is rebellious, 6 As he considers himself independent! 7 Verily, to thy Lord is the return (of all). 8 What thinkest thou? He who forbids 9 a servant when he prays -- 10 What will happen if the praying person is rightly guided 11 He would enjoin piety, so how good it would be! 12 Have you seen if he denies and turns away - 13 Did he not know that God sees? 14 No indeed; if he does not desist, We shall drag him by the forelock; 15 the lying, rebellious forehead! 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We will call the guards of Hell (to deal with him)! 18 Nay, heed him not: But bow down in adoration, and bring thyself the closer (to Allah)! ۩ 19
