We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them without purpose, even though this is the belief of the disbelievers. Woe to the disbelievers; they will suffer the torment of fire 27 Or should we treat those who believe and do righteous deeds like corrupters in the land? Or should We treat those who fear Allah like the wicked? 28 This is a Book We have sent down unto thee, blest, that they may ponder the revelations thereof, and that there may be admonished men of understanding. 29 We bestowed Solomon on David who was an excellent devotee, for he turned to God in penitence. 30 When they brought fleet-footed chargers in the evening to show him, 31 he said, "My love of horses for the cause of God has made me continue watching them until sunset, thus making me miss my prayer". 32 Bring them back unto me; and he set about slashing their legs and necks. 33 And verily We tried Solomon, and set upon his throne a (mere) body. Then did he repent. 34 He said, "My Lord, forgive me and grant me a kingdom such as will not belong to anyone after me. Indeed, You are the Bestower." 35 So We subjected the wind to him, so that it ran softly by his command wherever he wished; 36 and also the jinn, every kind of builder and diver 37 and others linked together in fetters. 38 'This is Our gift; bestow or withhold without reckoning.' 39 And verily, he enjoyed a near access to Us, and a good final return (Paradise). 40
