The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ The All-merciful 1 has taught the Qur'an, 2 He created man, 3 and taught him its pronunciation. 4 [At His behest] the sun and the moon run their appointed courses; 5 and the stars and the trees all prostrate themselves, 6 He raised the heavens and set up everything in balance, 7 That ye should not trespass in respect of the balance. 8 And observe correct measure, weigh with justice, and not cheat the balance. 9 He set down the earth for the creation. 10 Therein is fruit and palms having sheathed clusters, 11 Husked grain and scented herb. 12 Which of the bounties of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 13 He has created man from dry, rotten clay like the potter's, 14 And He created the jinn of a flame of fire. 15 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 16 (He is) the Lord of the two easts (places of sunrise during early summer and early winter) and the Lord of the two wests (places of sunset during early summer and early winter). 17 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 18 He has set two seas in motion that flow side by side together, 19 With an interstice between them which they cannot cross. 20 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 21 From these seas come forth pearls and coral. 22 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 23 And to Him belong the ships [with sails] elevated in the sea like mountains. 24 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 25
