Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Reality! 1 What is the Inevitable Reality? 2 And what have you understood, how tremendous the true event is! 3 Samood and Ad called the striking calamity a lie. 4 As for Thamood, they were destroyed by the Screamer; 5 as for Aad, they were destroyed by a howling, violent wind 6 Which Allah imposed on them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that you could see men lying overthrown (destroyed), as if they were hollow trunks of date-palms! 7 Do you then see of them one remaining? 8 And Fir'awn and those before him and the overturned cities committed sin. 9 And they disobeyed the Apostle of their Lord, so He punished them with a vehement punishment. 10 Lo, when the waters rose, We bore you in the running ship 11 That We might make it a remembrance for you, and the keen ear (person) may (hear and) understand it. 12 When the single blast is sounded on the trumpet, 13 And the earth with the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with one crash, 14 on that Day, the Event occurs. 15 and heaven shall be split, for upon that day it shall be very frail, 16 and will turn frail, losing all force. The angels will be around the heavens and on that day eight of them will carry the Throne of your Lord above all the creatures. 17 On that day you shall be exposed to view-- no secret of yours shall remain hidden. 18 On that Day, he whose Record is given to him in his right hand will say: “Lo! Read my Record! 19 Surely I knew that I should have to meet my reckoning. 20 So he shall be in a pleasing life 21 In a Garden lofty. 22 with fruits within easy reach. 23 Eat and drink with benefit for that which ye sent on beforehand in days past. 24 But as for him whose record shall be placed in his left hand, he will exclaim: "Oh, would that I had never been shown this my record, 25 Nor known whatever was my reckoning! 26 Would that death had taken us away for good. 27 My wealth has not helped me a thing 28 and my authority has vanished.” 29 (The stern command will say): "Seize ye him, and bind ye him, 30 Then throw him in the blazing Fire. 31 “Then bind him inside a chain which is seventy arm-lengths.” 32 “Indeed he refused to accept faith in Allah, the Greatest.” 33 Nor urged others to feed the poor. 34 Today he shall have no loyal friend here, 35 Nor food other than suppuration (filth) 36 Which none but the wrongdoers eat. 37
