The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 About the great tidings! 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 and made the night a covering, 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
