The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Woe to the defrauders, 1 who demand of other people full measure for themselves, 2 but when they have to measure or weigh whatever they owe to others, give less than what is due! 3 Do they not realize that they will be resurrected 4 on a great day 5 the Day when all men shall stand before the Sustainer of all the worlds? 6 By no means! Verily the record of the ungodly is in Sijjin. 7 And what could make thee conceive what that that mode inescapable will be? 8 It is a repository of distinctly written record. 9 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies, 10 and those who have rejected the Day of Judgment. 11 None belies it except every guilty sinner. 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says: 'Fictitious tales of the ancients' 13 No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning. 14 Nay! most surely they shall on that day be debarred from their Lord. 15 Then, verily they will indeed enter and taste the burning flame of Hell. 16 Then it will be said: 'this is that which ye were wont to belie.' 17 No! Indeed, the record of the righteous is in 'illiyyun. 18 Would that you knew what Illiyin is! 19 A record of good deeds written. 20 The ones nearest to God will bring it to public. 21 The righteous shall indeed be blissful, 22 On Thrones (of Dignity) will they command a sight (of all things): 23 You shall see upon their faces the glow of bliss. 24 They are given to drink of a pure wine, sealed, 25 whose seal is musk -- so after that let the strivers strive -- 26 a wine whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 A fountain from which only they who are honoured drink. 28 Verily! (During the worldly life) those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 When passing by them, they would wink at one another 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 and when they saw them said: 'These are they who are astray' 32 And withal, they have no call to watch over [the beliefs of] others... 33 But today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers; 34 On high thrones, watching. 35 Will not the infidels pay for what they had done? 36
