The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); 1 And what could make thee conceive what it is that comes in the night? 2 - The piercing Star! 3 There is not a soul that does not have a guardian over it. 4 Now let man but think from what he is created! 5 He is created of water pouring forth, 6 issuing from between the loins [of man] and the pelvic arch [of woman]. 7 He certainly has the power to bring him back to life. 8 The Day when secrets will be put on trial, 9 He shall have neither strength nor helper. 10 By the heaven which giveth the returning rain, 11 And the earth which opens up (with verdure), 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 And it is not amusement. 14 Indeed the disbelievers carry out their evil schemes. 15 And I plot a plot (against them). 16 Let, then, the deniers of the truth have their will: let them have their will for a little while. 17
