Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 in a sublime garden, 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 with a flowing spring, 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 And cups put in place 14 And arranged carpets. 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
