A multitude from the ancients. 39 and many from the later generations. 40 As for the people on the left hand, how miserable they will be! 41 [They will find themselves] in the midst of scorching winds, and burning despair, 42 in the shadow of a smoking blaze, 43 Nothing (will there be) to refresh, nor to please: 44 They had been affluent before, 45 But persisted in that greater sin, 46 And they used to say, “When we are dead and have turned into dust and bones, will we surely be raised again?” 47 (We) and our fore-fathers of yore?” 48 Say: The first and the last, 49 Are going to be assembled on the appointed time of a Day Known. 50 Then indeed you, the astray, the deniers 51 Ye verily will eat of a tree called Zaqqum 52 filling your bellies, with it 53 And thereon ye will drink of boiling water, 54 drinking it as thirsty camels do.” 55 This shall be their entertainment on the Day of Judgement. 56 We created you, then why do you believe not? 57 Have you ever considered that [seed] which you emit? 58 Is it you that create it or are We the creators? 59 We have decreed Death to be your common lot, and We are not to be frustrated 60 that We will change you and cause you to grow again in a way you do not know. 61 You have surely known of the first creation. Why then, will you not remember! 62 So what is your opinion regarding what you sow? 63 Is it you that make it grow, or are We the Grower? 64 If We will, We would make it broken stubble and you would remain wondering, 65 “We have been penalised; 66 Nay! we are deprived. 67 Have you considered the water that you drink? 68 Is it you who cause it to descend from the clouds, or do We? 69 If We willed, We verily could make it salt (and undrinkable), why then do you not give thanks (to Allah)? 70 Consider the fire that you strike (and get by friction). 71 Is it you who produced its tree, or are We the producer? 72 We have made it a Reminder (for the Hell-fire, in the Hereafter); and an article of use for the travellers (and all the others, in this world). 73 Therefore (O dear Prophet Mohammed peace and blessings be upon him) proclaim the Purity of the name of your Lord, the Greatest. 74

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
