The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the Night as it conceals (the light); 1 And by the day as it appears in brightness; 2 And Him Who hath created male and female, 3 Your striving is most surely (directed to) various (ends). 4 We shall facilitate the path to bliss 5 And believed the best matter to be true 6 We will ease him toward ease. 7 And as for him who is niggardly and considers himself free from need (of Allah), 8 and calls the ultimate good a lie 9 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Misery; 10 When he falls (into Hell), his wealth will not help him. 11 Surely upon Us rests the guidance, 12 and to Us belongs the Hereafter as well as the present world -- 13 Wherefore I have warned you of Fire flaming, 14 None except the most wicked will enter it. 15 Who had denied and turned away. 16 And Al-Muttaqun (the pious and righteous - see V. 2:2) will be far removed from it (Hell). 17 even he who gives his wealth. to purify himself 18 They do not expect any reward 19 but only to seek the good pleasure of his Lord Most High. 20 Will surely be gratified. 21
