The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Proclaim! (or read!) in the name of thy Lord and Cherisher, Who created- 1 Created man from an embryo; 2 Read, for your Lord is most beneficent, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 Has taught man that which he knew not. 5 Yet man behaves arrogantly, 6 Because he considers himself self-sufficient. 7 Surely to your Lord is your return. 8 HAST THOU ever considered him who tries to prevent 9 a worshipper from praying? 10 Bethinkest thou, if he is himself guided, 11 or bade to godfearing -- 12 Have you considered if he gives the lie to the truth and turns (his) back? 13 Does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Let him know that if he does not desist, We shall certainly drag him by his forelocks, 15 The lying, sinful forelock - 16 Then let him summon his council, 17 We will call the guards of Hell (to deal with him)! 18 Nay, heed him not: But bow down in adoration, and bring thyself the closer (to Allah)! ۩ 19
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
