And when the messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 He said: "Verily! You are people unknown to me." 62 They said: "Nay, we have come to you with that (torment) which they have been doubting. 63 And bring thee the Truth, and lo! we are truth-tellers. 64 So set forth, thou with thy family, in a watch of the night, and follow after the backs of them, and let not any one of you turn round; and depart unto the place you are commanded.' 65 And We decreed for him that commandment, that the last remnant of those should be cut off in the morning. 66 And there came the people of the city rejoicing 67 He said: Lo! they are my guests. Affront me not! 68 "And do not disgrace me. Have some fear of God." 69 They (people of the city) said: "Did we not forbid you to entertain (or protect) any of the 'Alamin (people, foreigners, strangers, etc. from us)?" 70 Lot said, "These are my daughters if you want them." 71 Verily, by thy life (O Prophet), in their wild intoxication, they wander in distraction, to and fro. 72 and the Cry seized them at the sunrise, 73 We turned the town upside-down and showered on them lumps of baked clay. 74 Surely! In this are signs, for those who see (or understand or learn the lessons from the Signs of Allah). 75 for, behold, those [towns] stood by a road that still exists. 76 Lo! therein is indeed a portent for believers. 77 AND THE DWELLERS of the wooded dales [of Madyan, too,] were inveterate evildoers, 78 We therefore took revenge from them; and indeed both these townships are situated on an open road. 79
