Al-Dukhaan 2 of 3
And We certainly saved the Children of Israel from the humiliating torment - 30 from Pharaoh who was most prominent among the prodigals. 31 And assuredly We elected them with knowledge above the worlds. 32 and gave them signs wherein there was a manifest trial. 33 These people say, 34 'There is nothing but our first death; we shall not be revived. 35 Then bring [back] our forefathers, if you should be truthful." 36 Are they better, or the folk of Tubb'a and those before them? We destroyed them, for surely they were guilty. 37 It was not in idle sport that We created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them. 38 We have created them for a genuine purpose, but most people do not know. 39 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] is the term appointed for all of them: 40 The Day when no protector can avail his client in aught, and no help can they receive, 41 save those to whom God shows mercy. Surely, He is the Mighty, the Merciful One. 42

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
