The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few from the latter. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 like hidden pearls, 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and outpoured waters, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 on raised couches. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 and made them virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
