The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Woe to the stinters who, 1 Those who, when they take by measure from mankind, exact the full, 2 but when they have to measure or weigh whatever they owe to others, give less than what is due! 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 on a fateful Day. 5 the Day when people will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 No indeed! Verily the deeds of the wicked are in the Record locked up in the prison-house! 7 And what will make you know what Sijjin is? 8 It is a written book. 9 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies, 10 Those that deny the Day of Judgment. 11 and none cries lies to it but every guilty aggressor. 12 When our signs are recited to him, he says, 'Fairy-tales of the ancients!' 13 Not at all – but rather their earnings have heaped rust upon their hearts. 14 Nay! most surely they shall on that day be debarred from their Lord. 15 and then, behold, they shall enter the blazing fire 16 Then, it will be said to them: "This is what you used to deny!" 17 Indeed the record of the virtuous is in the highest place, the Illiyin. 18 But how will you comprehend what 'Illiyun is? 19 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed 20 which those angels closest to God will bear witness to. 21 Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure 22 [resting on couches, they will look up [to God]: 23 You will recognize in their faces the radiance of pleasure. 24 They are given to drink of a pure wine, sealed, 25 The seal thereof will be Musk: And for this let those aspire, who have aspirations: 26 And mixed with water of Tasnim, 27 A spring, from (the waters) whereof drink those Nearest to Allah. 28 The sinners laughed at the believers 29 and winked at one another as they passed them by. 30 When they returned to their people they returned jesting; 31 On seeing the believers, they would say, "These people have gone astray". 32 Yet they were not sent as guardians over them. 33 so today those who believe shall [be able to] laugh at those who denied the truth 34 [for, resting in paradise] on couches, they will look on [and say to themselves]: 35 Will not the infidels pay for what they had done? 36
