The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
