The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Recite thou in the name of thy Lord Who hath created 1 created Man of a blood-clot. 2 Recite! Your Lord is the most Honorable One, 3 Who hath taught mankind by the pen 4 The One Who taught man all what he did not know. 5 No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 6 Because he sees himself self-sufficient. 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 Have you seen one who prevents 9 a worshiper when he prays. 10 Bethinkest thou, if he is himself guided, 11 or enjoins true piety? 12 Bethinkest thou, if he belieth and turneth away? 13 Does he not realize that God sees him? 14 No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock - 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 So let him call his associates, 17 We too would summon the braves of the army. 18 Nay, pay thou no heed to him, but prostrate thyself [before God] and draw close [unto Him]! ۩ 19
