Believers, obey God and His Messengers and do not turn away from Him when you hear (His commands). 20 Do not be like those who say, "We hear," but pay no heed to what they hear -- 21 ۞ The most wicked beasts in the sight of God are the deaf and the dumb who have no understanding. 22 And had Allah known in them any good He would surely, have made them hear; but (being as they, are) even if He made them hear, they would have surely turned away in aversion. 23 O you who have believed, respond to Allah and to the Messenger when he calls you to that which gives you life. And know that Allah intervenes between a man and his heart and that to Him you will be gathered. 24 And guard yourselves against a chastisement which cannot fall exclusively on those of you who are wrong-doers, and know that Allah is severe in punishment. 25 And remember when you were few, deemed weak in the land, fearing lest people might carry you off by force, but He sheltered you and strengthened you with His aid and gave you of the good things that you may give thanks. 26 O believers, betray not God and the Messenger, and betray not your trusts and that wittingly; 27 And know that your possessions and your children are a test, and that with Allah is immense reward. 28
