۞ "Bring ye up", it shall be said, "The wrong-doers and their wives, and the things they worshipped- 22 Other than God," (the angels will be told), "then show them the way to Hell, 23 and detain them there; they will be called to account. 24 "What is the matter with you that you do not help each other?" 25 Nay, but this day they make full submission. 26 They will then turn towards each other (and start wrangling). 27 They say: Lo! ye used to come unto us, imposing, (swearing that ye spoke the truth). 28 They will say: “Nay, you yourselves were not the ones who would believe. 29 And we had over you no authority, but you were a transgressing people. 30 So our Lord's Word is realised against us; we are tasting it. 31 Therefore we perverted you, and we ourselves were perverts.' 32 Truly, that Day, they will (all) share in the Penalty. 33 that is how We deal with evil-doers. 34 For when it was said to them: 'There is no god except Allah' they were always proud 35 saying, 'What, shall we forsake our gods for a poet possessed?' 36 In fact, he had brought them the truth and had acknowledged the Messengers (who were sent before him). 37 (They will be told): “You shall taste the grievous chastisement. 38 And you will be requited nothing except for what you used to do (evil deeds, sins, and Allah's disobedience which you used to do in this world); 39 But the sincere servants of God 40 For them is a Sustenance determined, 41 Fruits! And they shall be honoured. 42 In gardens of pleasure, 43 On thrones facing one another. 44 They will be served with a cup full of crystal clear wine, 45 Crystal-white, of a taste delicious to those who drink (thereof), 46 No headiness there shall be therein, nor shall they be therewith inebriated. 47 With them will be spouses, modest of gaze and beautiful of eye, 48 [as free of faults] as if they were hidden [ostrich] eggs. 49 So one among them turns to the other, questioning. – 50 One of them will say: “I had a companion in the world 51 "Who used to say, 'what! art thou amongst those who bear witness to the Truth (of the Message)? 52 When we are dead and turned to dust and bones, shall we be recompensed?" 53 He says, 'Are you looking down?' 54 Then looketh he and seeth him in the depth of hell. 55 'By God', he said, 'you had almost ruined me. 56 for had it not been for my Sustainer's favour, I would surely be [now] among those who are given over [to suffering]! 57 "Is it (the case) that we shall not die, 58 Other than our first death, and we shall not be punished? 59 Most surely this is the mighty achievement. 60 For the like of this, then, let the workers work. 61 Is Paradise a better accommodation or the tree of zaqqum? 62 which We have made as a test for the wrongdoers. 63 for, behold, it is a tree that grows in the very heart of the blazing fire [of hell,] 64 Its produce is as it were the heads of the serpents. 65 (The people of Hell) will surely eat of it, filling their bellies with it. 66 Then they will have on top of it a mixture of boiling water. 67 then surely they shall return to Hell. 68 for, behold, they found their forebears on a wrong way, 69 and they are running in their footsteps. 70 And certainly most of the ancients went astray before them, 71 and We had sent among them Messengers to warn them. 72 Observe, then, what was the end of those that had been warned, 73 Other than the chosen creatures of God. 74
