(Muhammad), have you ever seen the one who has turned away (from guidance), 33 and gives so little [of himself for the good of his soul,] and so grudgingly? 34 Does he [claim to] have knowledge of something that is beyond the reach of human perception, so that he can see [it clearly]? 35 Has he not been made acquainted with what was written in the scriptures of Moses? 36 And with Abraham who kept his word: 37 That no soul laden bears the load of another, 38 nor can man achieve anything without hard labor. 39 That his endeavours will be judged, 40 Then shall he be rewarded for it with the fullest reward- 41 And that to your Lord is the goal- 42 and that He it is Who causes people to laugh and to cry, 43 and that He it is Who causes death and grants life, 44 And that He created pairs, the male and the female 45 from a drop of sperm when it was emitted, 46 And that only upon Him is the next revival? 47 and that it is He who gives riches and causes to hoard, 48 that He is the Lord of Sirius, 49 That it was He who destroyed the 'Ad of old, 50 And Samood, so He spared not 51 and the people of Noah before -- certainly they did exceeding evil, and were insolent 52 He plunged the villages 53 So they were covered with whatever covered them? 54 About which, then, of thy Sustainer's powers canst thou [still] remain in doubt? 55 This is a warner, of the warners of old. 56 The imminent Hour has drawn near, 57 apart from God none can disclose it. 58 Do ye then wonder at this recital? 59 And you laugh at it and weep not, 60 While ye amuse yourselves? 61 So prostrate yourselves before Allah and worship. ۩ 62
