Samood rejected the warning. 23 They said, "Should we follow only one person among us. We shall be clearly in error and in trouble (if we do so). 24 Hath the remembrance been given unto him alone among us? Nay, but he is a rash liar. 25 (We told Our Messenger): “Tomorrow they shall know who is the insolent liar. 26 For We will send the she-camel by way of trial for them. So watch them, (O Salih), and possess thyself in patience! 27 “And inform them that the water is to be shared between them; only those may come whose turn it is.” 28 Then they called their comrade, and he took in hand, and hamstrung her. 29 So how dreadful have been My torment and My warnings. 30 Behold, We let loose upon them one single blast [of Our punishment,] and they became like the dried-up, crumbling twigs of a sheepfold. 31 Hence, indeed, We made this Qur'an easy to bear in mind: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 32 The people of Lout (Lot) belied the warnings. 33 Surely We sent upon them a stonestorm, except Lut's followers; We saved them a little before daybreak, 34 As a Grace from Us: thus do We reward those who give thanks. 35 He had warned them of Our assault but they disputed the warnings. 36 And certainly they endeavored to turn him from his guests, but We blinded their eyes; so taste My chastisement and My warning. 37 And certainly a lasting chastisement overtook them in the morning. 38 "Taste My punishment now that you have scorned My warnings!" 39 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished. 40
