The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 and clustered bananas, 29 and shade extended, 30 and flowing water, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 And raised couches. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 And have made them virgins. 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
