The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 Arise and warn! 2 Thy Lord magnify 3 thy robes purify 4 And stay away from idols. 5 Nor expect, in giving, any increase (for thyself)! 6 but unto thy Sustainer turn in patience. 7 For when the trumpet blows 8 it will be a hard day 9 and for the disbelievers, in particular, it will not be at all easy. 10 Leave Me with the one I created alone 11 and to whom I have granted resources vast, 12 and sons that stand in witness. 13 whose life I have made run smoothly 14 then he is eager that I should do more. 15 By no means! surely he offers opposition to Our communications. 16 [and so] I shall constrain him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 He reflected, and then determined 18 Ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 19 Let him be destroyed. How he calculated! 20 Then he considered [again]; 21 Then frowned and grimaced. 22 Then he turned back and was proud; 23 and said: 'This is no more than traced sorcery; 24 This is not but the word of a human being." 25 I shall make him suffer the torment of hell. 26 What could make you conceive what hell-fire is? 27 It leaves naught nor does it spare aught. 28 it scorches the skin; 29 Over it are nineteen (guards). 30 And We have set none but angels as Guardians of the Fire; and We have fixed their number only as a trial for Unbelievers,- in order that the People of the Book may arrive at certainty, and the Believers may increase in Faith,- and that no doubts may be left for the People of the Book and the Believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the Unbelievers may say, "What symbol doth Allah intend by this?" Thus doth Allah leave to stray whom He pleaseth, and guide whom He pleaseth: and none can know the forces of thy Lord, except He and this is no other than a warning to mankind. 31
