He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 To him you give attention. 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 On honoured leaves 13 Exalted and holy, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
