The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Woe to those who are fraudulent in (weighing and measuring), 1 who, when people measure for them, take full measure, 2 but, when they measure for them or weigh for them, do skimp. 3 Do such (men) not consider that they will be raised again 4 For a mighty day, 5 the Day when all men shall stand before the Sustainer of all the worlds? 6 Nay, but the record of the vile is in Sijjin - 7 Ah! what will convey unto thee what Sijjin is! - 8 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record. 9 Woe on that Day unto the beliers 10 those who give the lie to the [coming of] Judgment Day: 11 Yet none gives the lie to it except the transgressor immersed in sin; 12 When you recite Our verses to him, he says, “Stories of earlier men!” 13 By no means! Aye! encrusted upon their hearts is that which they have been earning. 14 On the Day of Judgment, they will certainly be barred from the mercy of their Lord. 15 and then, behold, they shall enter the blazing fire 16 It will then be said, “This is what you used to deny.” 17 Surely the ledger of the pious will be in 'Illiyun (heights above the heights). 18 Would that you knew what Illiyin is! 19 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed 20 The ones nearest to God will bring it to public. 21 Behold, [in the life to come] the truly virtuous will indeed be in bliss: 22 On thrones, they shall gaze; 23 You can trace on their faces the joy of their bliss. 24 They shall be given to drink of a wine that is sealed, 25 With a sealing of musk, which those who aspire for the best should desire, -- 26 Blended with the water of Tasnim, (heights ultimate of evolution), 27 a source [of bliss] whereof those who are drawn close unto God shall drink. 28 Indeed the guilty used to laugh at the believers. 29 And when they passed by them, they winked at one another. 30 And when they returned to their own folk, they returned jesting; 31 And when they saw them, they said: verily these are the strayed ones. 32 though they were not sent to be their keepers -- 33 So, the believers will laugh at the infidels on that day, 34 On adorned couches, observing. 35 Are not the disbelievers paid (fully) for what they used to do? 36
