The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
The Hour (of Judgment) is nigh, and the moon is cleft asunder. 1 (Regardless of any Signs these people see), they turn away and say: “This is an ongoing sorcery.” 2 They reject (the warning) and follow their (own) lusts but every matter has its appointed time. 3 Messages deterring them from evil had come to them, 4 Wisdom consummate. But warnings avail not. 5 So turn away from them. When on the Day the crier calls to the painful business, 6 Their eyes humbled, they will emerge from the graves as if they were locusts spreading, 7 Hastening towards the caller, the disbelievers will say: "This is a hard Day." 8 ۞ The people of Noah had denied before them, and had called Our votary a liar, and said: "He is possessed," and repulsed him. 9 And so he called unto his Lord, saying, 'I am vanquished; do Thou succour me!' 10 Then opened We the gates of heaven with pouring water 11 And We made water to flow forth in the land in springs, so the water gathered together according to a measure already ordained. 12 And We carried him on a (ship) made of planks and nails, 13 Which sailed right under Our eyes: A recompense for him who had been denied. 14 And We left it as a sign, so is there any who will remember? 15 How terrible then was My punishment and My warning. 16 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 17 The people of 'Ad too rejected the truth. How terrible was My punishment and My warning. 18 Lo! We let loose on them a raging wind on a day of constant calamity, 19 Which snatched away men as though they were palm trees pulled out by the roots. 20 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 21 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 22
