The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 and made the night a covering, 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
