The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By oath of those who harshly pull out the soul. (Of the disbeliever) 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 by those that swim serenely 3 And who quickly present themselves. 4 And those who govern the event, 5 On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts 6 to be followed by further [convulsions]! 7 On that Day will [men's] hearts be throbbing, 8 and their eyes will be humbled. 9 They say: "Shall we go back to our original state 10 After having turned to carious bones?" 11 They said, “So this return is an obvious loss!” 12 But all it will take is a single blast, 13 When, behold, they find themselves over the earth alive after their death, 14 Has there reached you the story of Moses? - 15 Behold, thy Lord did call to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa:- 16 "Go to the Pharaoh who has become refractory, 17 And say: 'Would you like to grow (in virtue)? 18 Then I will guide you to your Lord that you may come to fear Him.'" 19 And he showed him the greatest sign, 20 but he belied and disobeyed, 21 Then he went back hastily. 22 and gathered his people together 23 And said, "I am your most exalted lord." 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 Surely in that is a lesson for him who fears! 26
