The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Woe to those who are fraudulent in (weighing and measuring), 1 Who insist on being given full when they take from others, 2 But if they measure unto them or weight for them, they cause them loss. 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 For a tremendous Day - 5 a day when mankind shall stand before the Lord of all Being? 6 By no means! Verily the record of the ungodly is in Sijjin. 7 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Sijjin is? 8 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed. 9 Woe, then, to those that give the lie, 10 Those that deny the Day of Judgment. 11 And none can deny it except every transgressor beyond bounds, (in disbelief, oppression and disobedience of Allah, the sinner!) 12 When Our Signs are rehearsed to him, he says, "Tales of the ancients!" 13 No indeed! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. 14 Yes indeed they will be deprived of seeing their Lord on that day. 15 and then they shall enter Hell, 16 Further, it will be said to them: "This is the (reality) which ye rejected as false! 17 No indeed! Verily, the deeds of the virtuous shall be in the record of the exalted ones. 18 And what will explain to thee what 'Illiyun is? 19 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 20 To which bear witness those brought nigh. 21 Surely the pious shall be in bliss, 22 On thrones, looking (at all things). 23 You will recognise the freshness of serenity on their faces. 24 They will be given pure wine to drink, which is kept preserved, sealed. 25 which have the fragrance of musk. This is the kind of place for which one should really aspire. 26 a wine tempered with the waters of Tasnim, 27 a spring at which those drawn close to God will drink. 28 Indeed, those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 And, when they passed them, to wink at each other, 30 And whilst returning to their homes, they used to return rejoicing. 31 and when they saw them, they said [scornfully], "These men have surely gone astray," 32 Yet they were not sent as watchers over them. 33 But on the Day [of Judgment,] they who had attained to faith will [be able to] laugh at the [erstwhile] deniers of the truth: 34 On high couches, gazing. 35 Are not the disbelievers paid (fully) for what they used to do? 36
Almighty Allah's Truth.
