Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 and couches raised high, 13 And cups put in place 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 and outspread carpets. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
