The Night (Al-Layl)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
CONSIDER the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 By the Day as it appears in glory; 2 And [by] He who created the male and female, 3 Your striving is most surely (directed to) various (ends). 4 Then as for him who giveths and feareth Him. 5 And testifieth to the Good, 6 So We will very soon provide him ease. 7 But as for him who hoardeth and deemeth himself independent, 8 And denies the best [reward], 9 So We will very soon provide him hardship. 10 his wealth shall not avail him when he perishes. 11 Surely, it is for Us to provide guidance -- 12 and to Us belong the hereafter and the worldly life. 13 Therefore I have warned you of a Fire blazing fiercely (Hell); 14 in which no one will suffer forever except the wicked ones 15 The one who denied and turned away. 16 And Al-Muttaqun (the pious and righteous - see V. 2:2) will be far removed from it (Hell). 17 He who gives his wealth to be purified, 18 And is under no one's obligation to return his favour, 19 except the pleasure of their Lord, the Most High 20 and the reward (of their Lord) will certainly make them happy. 21
