And assuredly We have created human being from ringing clay of loam moulded. 26 whereas the invisible beings We had created, [long] before that, out of the fire of scorching winds. 27 When your Lord said to the angels, "I will create the human being out of pure mud-moulded clay. 28 And when I have fashioned him and breathed into him of My spirit, bow before him in homage;" 29 All the angels prostrated themselves, 30 But Iblis did not; he refused to be with the prostrates. 31 Allah said: O Iblis! what aileth thou that thou art not with the prostrates? 32 He said it was not for me that I should prostrate myself unto a human being whom Thou hast created from ringing clay of loam moulded. 33 Said He, 'Then go thou forth hence; thou art accursed. 34 and will be subjected to condemnation until the Day of Judgment." 35 (Iblis) said: "O my Lord! give me then respite till the Day the (dead) are raised." 36 Allah said: "For sure you are granted respite 37 for an appointed time." 38 [Whereupon Iblis] said: "O my Sustainer! Since Thou hast thwarted me, I shall indeed make [all that is evil] on earth seem goodly to them, and shall most certainly beguile them - into grievous error 39 “Except those among them who are Your chosen bondmen.” 40 Said He, 'This is for Me a straight path: 41 verily, thou shalt have no power over My creatures - unless it be such as are [already] lost in grievous error and follow thee [of their own will]: 42 And verily, Hell is the promised abode for them all! 43 with seven gates leading into it, each gate receiving its allotted share of sinners. 44
