Thamud gave the lie to the warnings, 23 And said, "Is it one human being among us that we should follow? Indeed, we would then be in error and madness. 24 Has the Reminder been cast upon him alone among us? Nay, rather he is an impudent liar.' 25 [And God said:] "On the morrow they will come to know who the boastful liar is! 26 Surely We are going to send the she-camel as a trial for them; therefore watch them and have patience. 27 And inform them that the water is shared between them, each [day of] drink attended [by turn]. 28 But they called their companion, so he took (the sword) and slew (her). 29 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 30 Behold, We let loose upon them one single blast [of Our punishment,] and they became like the dried-up, crumbling twigs of a sheepfold. 31 Indeed, We have made the Quran easy to learn lessons from. Is there anyone who would receive admonition? 32 The people of Lot cried lies to the warnings. 33 Indeed, We sent upon them a storm of stones, except the family of Lot - We saved them before dawn 34 as a blessing from Us: this is how We reward the thankful. 35 And he [Lout (Lot)] indeed had warned them of Our Grasp, but they did doubt the warnings! 36 They demanded that he turn over his guests to them. We struck their faces, blinded them and said, "Suffer Our torment of which you were warned". 37 And verily, an abiding torment seized them early in the morning. 38 'Taste now My chastisement and My warnings!' 39 Hence, indeed, We made this Qur'an easy to bear in mind: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 40
