The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 The night a covering, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 Requital corresponding. 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
