The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Recite: In the Name of thy Lord who created, 1 created man from a clot of congealed blood. 2 Read - for thy Sustainer is the Most Bountiful One 3 Who hath taught mankind by the pen 4 Hath taught man that which he knew not. 5 No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 6 because he thinks himself self-sufficient: 7 truly, all will return to your Lord. 8 Bethinkest thou him who forbiddeth, 9 A slave when he prayeth? 10 Have you seen if he is upon guidance 11 or if he commands others to maintain piety!? 12 Tell me if he (the disbeliever, Abu Jahl) denies (the truth, i.e. this Quran), and turns away? 13 Is he then unaware that Allah seeth? 14 And yet indeed if he does not desist We shall drag him by the forelock, 15 the lying, rebellious forehead! 16 So, let him call upon his way! 17 We will call the guards of Hell (to deal with him)! 18 No, indeed; do not obey him! Prostrate and come nearer (to Allah). ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
