In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Kaf Ha Ya Ain Sad 1 (This is) a mention of the mercy of your Lord to His slave Zakariya (Zachariah). 2 When he cried unto his Lord a cry in secret, 3 Saying: My Lord! Lo! the bones of me wax feeble and my head is shining with grey hair, and I have never been unblest in prayer to Thee, my Lord. 4 "And Verily! I fear my relatives after me, since my wife is barren. So give me from Yourself an heir, 5 who will be my heir and the heir of the family of Jacob. Lord, make him a person who will please you". 6 O Zakariyya! verily We give thee the glad tidings of a boy: his name shall be Yahya; We have not afore-time made his namesake. 7 He said: O my Lord! when shall I have a son, and my wife is barren, and I myself have reached indeed the extreme degree of old age? 8 He said: So (it will be). Thy Lord saith: It is easy for Me, even as I created thee before, when thou wast naught. 9 [Zachariah] prayed: "O my Sustainer! Appoint a sign for me!" Said [the angel]: "Thy sign shall be that for full three nights [and days] thou wilt not speak unto men". 10 Then he came forth to his people from the sanctuary, and he beckoned unto them. hallow your Lord morning and evening. 11 'O John, take the Book forcefully'; and We gave him judgment, yet a little child, 12 And affection from Us and purity, and he was fearing of Allah 13 And kind to his parents, neither arrogant nor disobedient. 14 Peace be upon him on the day he was born and the day he dies, and on him the day when he is raised up alive. 15
