Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL TO witness those who scatter (dust) by dispersing, 1 and those that bear the burden [of the rain], 2 And those who move (on the water) gently, 3 Then those (angels who) distribute blessings by Our command; 4 What you are threatened with is most surely true, 5 and, verily, judgment is bound to come! 6 By the heaven full of paths, 7 Most surely you are at variance with each other in what you say, 8 and are turned away from him who is turned. 9 Death to those whose opinions are merely baseless conjectures. 10 who flounder in the depths of ignorance. 11 They ask: When is the Day of Judgment? 12 On the Day of Judgment they will be punished by the fire 13 'Taste your trial! This is that you were seeking to hasten.' 14 Surely those who fear God and follow the straight path will be amidst gardens and fresh springs of water, 15 enjoying all that their Sustainer will have granted them [because,] verily, they were doers of good in the past: 16 They used to sleep only a little during the night. 17 And in the hours before dawn, they were (found) asking (Allah) for forgiveness, 18 And the beggar and the destitute had a share in their wealth. 19 There are many Signs on earth for those of sure faith, 20 And in your own selves; so can you not perceive? 21 In the sky is your provision and that which you are promised. 22 And by the Lord of the heavens and the earth, it is the truth, even as (it is true) that ye speak. 23
