Therefore continue to give warning, for by the grace of your Lord, you are not a soothsayer or a madman. 29 Or do they say, 'He is a poet for whom we await Fate's uncertainty'? 30 Say (unto them): Except (your fill)! Lo! I am with you among the expectant. 31 Or, do their intellects order them to do this? Or, are they an insolent people? 32 Or say they: he hath fabricated it: aye they will not believe. 33 Let them produce a discourse like it if they are true in their claim. 34 Or were they created by nothing, or were they the creators [of themselves]? 35 Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Nay! they have no certainty. 36 Or, are the treasures of your Lord in their keeping? Or, are they the controllers? 37 Or, do they have a ladder on which they listen? Then let any of them that has listened bring a clear authority. 38 What! The daughters for Him, and the sons for you? 39 Or, do you ask them for a wage, so that they become weighed down in debt? 40 Or is the hidden with them, by which they pass judgements? 41 Or desire they to outwit? The unbelievers, they are the outwitted. 42 Or have they a deity other than Allah? Exalted is Allah above whatever they associate with Him. 43 Even if they saw lumps falling from heaven, they would say, 'A massed cloud!' 44 Wherefore let them alone, till they meet their Day whereon they shall swoon. 45 A day on which their scheming will not benefit them at all, nor will they be helped. 46 And verily, for those who do wrong, there is another punishment besides this: But most of them understand not. 47 And be thou patient under the judgment of thy Lord; surely thou art before Our eyes. And proclaim the praise of thy Lord when thou arisest, 48 and extol His glory at night, and at the time when the stars retreat. 49
