Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
O you who wraps himself [in clothing], 1 stand up to pray for much of the night. 2 Half of it, or a little less than that, 3 and recite the Quran in a distinct tone; 4 Soon shall We send down to thee a weighty Message. 5 Indeed, the hours of the night are more effective for concurrence [of heart and tongue] and more suitable for words. 6 You are indeed much occupied during the day with the affairs of the world. 7 But keep in remembrance the name of thy Lord and devote thyself to Him whole-heartedly. 8 [He is] the Lord of the East and the West; there is no deity except Him, so take Him as Disposer of [your] affairs. 9 And bear thou patiently what they say, and forsake them graciously. 10 Leave it to Me to deal with the deniers, who live a life of comfort, and bear with them a little longer. 11 Verily, with Us are fetters (to bind them), and a raging Fire. 12 and food that chokes, and a painful chastisement, 13 On the Day when the earth and the mountains will be in violent shake, and the mountains will be a heap of sand poured out and flowing down. 14 Indeed, We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness upon you just as We sent to Pharaoh a messenger. 15 and Pharaoh rebelled against the apostle, whereupon We took him to task with a crushing grip. 16 Then how, if ye disbelieve, will ye protect yourselves upon the day which will turn children grey, 17 The heaven shall rend asunder thereby; His promise is ever brought to fulfillment. 18 This, verily, is a reminder: let him who wills, then set out on a way to his Sustainer! 19
