The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Indeed there has been a time for man, when even his name did not exist anywhere. 1 We have created the human from a (sperm) drop, a mixture, testing him; We made him to hear and see. 2 Indeed, We guided him to the way, be he grateful or be he ungrateful. 3 Indeed, We have prepared for the disbelievers chains and shackles and a blaze. 4 Lo! the righteous shall drink of a cup whereof the mixture is of Kafur, 5 A spring wherefrom the slaves of Allah will drink, causing it to gush forth abundantly. 6 (Because) they perform the vow and fear a day whereof the evil is wide-spreading, 7 And they feed, for the love of Allah, the indigent, the orphan, and the captive,- 8 saying, "We feed you for the sake of God alone, we seek neither recompense nor thanks from you. 9 Verily we dread from our Lord a Day grim and distressful. 10 Therefore, God will ward off from them the woes of that Day, and make them find brightness and joy, 11 And will reward them for what they patiently endured [with] a garden [in Paradise] and silk [garments]. 12 Where they will recline on couches feeling neither heat of the sun nor intense cold. 13 And near above them are its shades, and its [fruit] to be picked will be lowered in compliance. 14 And brought round amongst them will be vessels of silver and also goblets of glass. 15 Crystal-clear, made of silver. They will determine the measure thereof according to their wishes. 16 And therein they shall be given to drink a cup whose mixture is ginger, 17 therein a fountain whose name is called Salsabil. 18 ۞ And immortal youths will wait upon them: when thou seest them, thou wouldst deem them to be scattered pearls; 19 And when thou lookest, it is there thou wilt see a Bliss and a Realm Magnificent. 20 Upon them will be green Garments of fine silk and heavy brocade, and they will be adorned with Bracelets of silver; and their Lord will give to them to drink of a Wine Pure and Holy. 21 This will be their reward and their efforts will be appreciated. 22
