The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By oath of the heaven, and by oath of the nightly arriver. 1 And what will make you know what the comer by night is? 2 It is the piercing star - 3 That over each soul there is a guardian. 4 So let man observe from what he was created. 5 He was created of a gushing fluid, 6 Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs: 7 God has certainly power to bring him back (from the dead). 8 on the Day when all secrets will be laid bare, 9 when he will be helpless, with no supporter. 10 By oath of the sky from which comes down the rain. 11 And the earth which opens up (with verdure), 12 this (Qur'an) is surely a decisive Word, 13 And no trifle. 14 They are cunningly devising, 15 and so am I: 16 So grant the unbelievers a respite: let them alone for a while. 17
