The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 on lavish couches 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 And clustered plantains, 29 And spreading shade, 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit in plenty 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 And made them virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 for those on the Right, 38
