By the moon, 32 And by the Night as it retreateth, 33 And by the Dawn as it shineth forth,- 34 Verily, that [hell-fire] is Indeed one of the great [forewarnings] 35 As a warning unto men, 36 Unto him of you who will advance or hang back. 37 Every soul is pledged to what it does, 38 Except those of the right hand 39 In Gardens, they seek answers, 40 And (ask) of the Sinners: 41 [And asking them], "What put you into Saqar?" 42 and they shall reply, "We were not among those who prayed; 43 And we have not been feeding the poor. 44 We indulged and persisted in useless disputes, 45 and we gave the lie to the Day of Judgement 46 Till the Inevitable came unto us. 47 So, the intercession of intercessors will not avail them. 48 Why then do they turn away from the admonition 49 As if they were startled donkeys – 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Yea, everyone of them claims that he [himself] ought to have been given revelations unfolded! 52 By no means! But they fear not the Hereafter, 53 Nay, verily. Lo! this is an Admonishment. 54 Let him who will take heed: 55 And they will not remember except that Allah wills. He is worthy of fear and adequate for [granting] forgiveness. 56
