Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
50 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah) before Q (Qaaf)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the winds sent forth with beneficence. 1 By the raging hurricanes, 2 and by the scatterers scattering (rain) 3 And those [angels] who bring criterion 4 and by those who reveal revelations (to the prophets) 5 To complete the argument or to warn. 6 Surely what you are promised shall come to pass. 7 When the stars are obliterated, 8 And when the sky is riven asunder, 9 And when the mountains are blown away 10 And when the Messengers are gathered to their time appointed; 11 For what day is that time fixed? 12 For the Day of Judgement. 13 How will you comprehend what the Day of Judgement is? 14 Woe on that day to the rejecters. 15 Destroyed We not the former folk, 16 and then follow them with the later folk? 17 Thus do We deal with the guilty. 18 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 19 Did We not create you out of a humble fluid 20 Which We placed in a depository safe. 21 For a certain appointed time, 22 So We did measure, and We are the Best to measure (the things). 23 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 24 Have We not caused the earth to hold within itself 25 The living and the dead, 26 And have placed therein firm, and tall mountains; and have given you to drink sweet water? 27 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 28 Depart to that which you belied! 29 Depart unto the shadow falling threefold, 30 wherein there is neither shade, nor freeing from the blazing flames 31 Lo! it throweth up sparks like the castles, 32 As if they were tawny camels. 33 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 34 This is a Day they will not speak, 35 Nor will it be permitted for them to make an excuse. 36 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 37 That will be a Day of Sorting out! We shall gather you together and those before (you)! 38 Now, if ye have a trick (or plot), use it against Me! 39 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 40
