Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the winds sent forth with beneficence. 1 And by the winds that blow violently, 2 And those that revive by quickening, 3 Then by those that clearly differentiate the right and wrong. 4 And those [angels] who deliver a message 5 excusing or warning, 6 What is promised will surely come to pass. 7 So when the stars are extinguished, 8 Heavens will rent asunder. 9 And when the mountains are blown away 10 And when the time comes for messengers to meet -- 11 If one asks, "To which day have such calamitous events been postponed?" 12 one will be told, "To the Day of Distinction". 13 And what knowest thou what the Day of Decision is? 14 On that day, woe will be to those who have rejected God's revelations! 15 Did We not destroy [so many of] those [sinners] of olden days? 16 And We shall cause those of later times to follow them. 17 Even thus shall We deal with the guilty. 18 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 19 Did We not create you from a humble fluid, 20 which We then placed in a secure repository 21 till a known term decreed? 22 We determined; excellent determiners are We. 23 On that day, woe would be upon those who have rejected the revelations of God! 24 Have We not made the earth a receptacle 25 the living and the dead? 26 And made therein mountains standing firm, lofty (in stature); and provided for you water sweet (and wholesome)? 27 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 28 Walk on to that which you called a lie. 29 Depart to a triple-massing shadow 30 And those that distinguish distinctly, 31 The fire will shoot out sparks as big as huge towers 32 and as bright as a herd of yellow camels. 33 Woe on that day to the rejecters. 34 This is a day wherein they speak not, 35 Nor shall they be permitted so that they might excuse themselves. 36 Woe on that day to the rejecters. 37 Such is the Day of Decision. We will gather you with the ancients. 38 So if you have a plan, plan against Me (now). 39 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth! 40
