The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
