Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 and couches raised high, 13 And goblets set at hand 14 and cushions ranged, 15 and outspread carpets. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
