The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
A requester seeks the punishment that will take place – 1 those who deny the truth. [Know, then, that] nothing can ward it off, 2 a chastisement from Allah, the Lord of the ascending steps, 3 To Him the angels and the Spirit mount up, in a day whereof the measure is fifty thousand years. 4 So persevere with becoming patience. 5 behold, men look upon that [reckoning] as something far away 6 while We think that it is near at hand. 7 On the day when the heavens become like molten metal. 8 And the mountains will be like flakes of wool, 9 And not a friend shall ask a friend, 10 Though they will be put in sight of each other,- the sinner's desire will be: Would that he could redeem himself from the Penalty of that Day by (sacrificing) his children, 11 and of his spouse, and of his brother, 12 And his family who had stood by him, 13 and all persons of the earth, if only he could thus save himself. 14 By no means! Surely it is a flaming fire 15 Taking away (burning completely) the head skin! 16 It will summon whoever turns his back and flees, 17 and amassed (riches) and hoarded. 18 ۞ Verily, man (disbeliever) was created very impatient; 19 when evil visits him, impatient, 20 And when good touches him, withholding [of it], 21 Not so those devoted to Prayer;- 22 who are constant in prayer; 23 In whose wealth a due share is included 24 For those who beg, and for the needy who cannot even ask. 25 And those who testify to the Day of Requital. 26 And those who are fearful of the chastisement of their Lord-- 27 for none may ever feel secure from the punishment of their Lord; 28 and guard their private parts 29 Are free of blame, 30 but whoever goes beyond this is a transgressor; 31 and those who are faithful to their trusts and to their pledges; 32 Who uphold their testimonies, 33 And those who [carefully] maintain their prayer: 34 Such will be the honoured ones in the Gardens (of Bliss). 35
