O YOU APOSTLES! Partake of the good things of life, and do righteous deeds: verily, I have full knowledge of all that you do. 51 And verily this religion of yours is one religion, and I am your Lord, so fear Me. 52 Yet they divided themselves into factions, each rejoicing in what they had. 53 So leave them in their confusion for a time. 54 Do they think that because We have granted them abundance of wealth and sons, 55 We provide them with the means of competing with each other in virtuous deeds, but they do not realize this. 56 Those who tremble in fear of their Lord, 57 and who believe in their Sustainer's messages, 58 And those who join not anyone (in worship) as partners with their Lord; 59 Who give whatsoever they give (in His way), and their hearts tremble with fear that they have to go back to their Lord, 60 those vie in good works, outracing to them. 61 We charge no soul with more than it can bear. We have a Book with Us which speaks the truth, and they shall not be wronged. 62 But their hearts are covered with confusion over this, and they have [evil] deeds besides disbelief which they are doing, 63 To the extent that when We seized the wealthy among them with punishment, they immediately began imploring. 64 “Do not implore this day; you will not be helped by Us.” 65 My revelations were recited unto you, but ye used to turn back on your heels, 66 In scorn thereof. Nightly did ye rave together. 67 Why did they not think over the message? Or has something come to them which had not come to their fathers? 68 Or is it that they have not recognized their Apostle, so that they deny him? 69 Do they say he is mad! No, he came to them with the truth, but most of them hate the truth. 70 If truth had followed their whims and desires, heavens and earth and all that lives in them would have been brought to ruin. Rather We have brought them their Reminder. Yet they keep avoiding their Reminder. 71 Or are you asking them for any reward? But the reward of your Lord is the best, for He is the Best of Providers, 72 Assuredly thou art calling them to a straight path; 73 but, behold, those who will not believe in the life to come are bound to deviate from that way. 74 ۞ Were We to be merciful to them and remove from them their present afflictions, they would persist in their transgression, blindly wandering on. 75 And already We overtook them with chastisement, but they were not submissive to their Lord, nor do they humble themselves. 76 until We open before them a gate of harsh punishment and then they will be dumbfounded. 77
