The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun shall be folded up, 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 when the souls shall be rejoined (with their bodies), 7 And the little girl buried alive is asked 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 And when the pages are laid open, 10 when heaven is stripped, 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 The closing night, 17 and brightening morning, 18 Truly, this is the word brought by a noble messenger, 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 And your companion is not [at all] mad. 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 Where then are you going? 26 This is certainly the guidance for all (jinn and mankind). 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
